World Book Day 2024

EXTREME READERS

Did you know that being in an unusual place or position can make reading more exciting? For World Book Day on Thursday 7th March, we're challenging every child to be an EXTREME READER. We would like children to get a photo of themselves reading their books in unusual and out-of-the-ordinary places. An example could be up a climbing frame or on a trampoline (children need to be mindful of being safe and to check with an adult first). The more creative – the better! We would love for families to get involved as well so please feel free to join in. Over the next week, you need to have a photograph taken of your Extreme Reading, which needs to be sent into to school via your child's ClassDojo, or a hard copy passed into the office. All of the pictures will be added to what we hope will be a fantastic display of our children reading in a whole host of weird and wonderful places. On Friday 8th March, we will be celebrating the children who have been the most EXTREME READERS during our Celebration Assembly in the afternoon.
LUCKY LISTENERS 2024

As part of our school preparations for World Book Day on Thursday 7th March, we are going to run a Lucky Listeners competition for every child to take part in over the next week. The challenge is to see how many different people you can read out loud to! This may be a parent, grandparent, brother, sister, babysitter, etc. You can read out loud in person, over the phone or in a Zoom or FaceTime. Everyone is getting a Lucky Listeners Log, where you can record your Lucky Listeners, and these need to be returned to the office by Thursday 7th March so that we can award the children with the most Lucky Listeners at our Celebration Assembly on Friday 8th March!
