I’m very passionate about education having spent almost 4 decades in various teaching roles in several Primary Schools - most being in Devon- and after retiring from Keyham Barton, I decided to become a governor. Alongside this, for many years, I have been part of the Food for Thought School Linking Programme which links rural Primary Schools in Uganda with Primary Schools in Devon and Cornwall. As you may know our link school is Kikandwa which I have visited a few times and I have been part of the Afripad project which is now fully embedded at Keyham.
I live just outside Ivybridge where our three children have grown up and now take great pleasure in looking after our two grandchildren who also live in Ivybridge.

Mrs Tina Tuohy

Vice Chair - Foundation Governor

Term 22.05.2018 - 22.05.2026
Attendance 2023-2024 : 3/6
Registered interests: North Yard Community Trust CIO, Wolseley Trust CEDT

I came to Plymouth in 1970 and have lived in North Prospect for 40-odd years before moving when my house was demolished due to Regeneration. I have been a parishioner at Holy Redeemer all this time and my children and one grandchild also went to Keyham Barton School. I used to be a governor at the old North Prospect Primary School before it became the Mayflower Academy and found it very interesting and rewarding. I would have like to have joined Keyham Barton earlier but never managed to be available when one of the posts became free. On this occasion I jumped at the chance and while my children were at the school I had always enjoyed my visits and in particular the Nativity Plays and School Mass. I am on the Parish Council and a Eucharistic Minister. I used to teach archaeology at University of Exeter and now although retired I still do some teaching online. I am keen on gardening, wildlife and dog walking.

Miss Sarah Rowe

Headteacher

I have been the Headteacher of Keyham Barton since September 2023, and from the moment I stepped into the school I could feel that Keyham was a school where I belong - a special place with an overwhelmingly family feel.

I grew up in the local area and my link to the school was first established in 1997 when I worked as a Teaching Assistant. During this time, my confidence blossomed and the experience I gained only ignited my passion to become a teacher and make a difference to the lives of others.

Being the Headteacher of Keyham Barton is a huge honour which I carry with pride, commitment and dignity.

Aside from being part of the Keyham Barton School family, I am a parent of a thirteen year old boy. We are both very competitive and we enjoy keeping active. When I am not watching my son play sport, I coach and play netball for Plymouth Pilgrms.

I am here to support our children, families and staff. I have a strong faith and believe it has brought me here to learn as much as to lead. I am here to help, always, so please feel you can come and talk to me about any worries and concerns and we can work together as a team.

Mrs Cathy Breslin

Staff Governor

Hello my name is Catherine Breslin and I have just become a staff governor at Keyham Barton. I have worked as a teacher within Plymouth CAST for 18 years and have been a qualified teacher for 20 years. As a teacher, I have taught across all year groups including taking on the role of a Deputy Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding lead, as well as having responsibility for R.E, Maths, History, and Computing. I am very passionate about creating an educational environment where children not only grow academically but spiritually as well and take great pride in the Catholic life and ethos of our school. At present, I teach Compassion Class, I am the Key Stage 1 and EYFS Lead, SENDCo, R.E Lead and History Lead.

I was born in Devon and grew up just outside of Plymouth, where I went to school and worked for many years firstly as a secretary and then becoming a playgroup leader and teaching assistant. As a mature student, I obtained a teaching degree at MARJONS, specialising in Theology.

I am married to James and have two grown up children, Jess and Noah, and a grandson, Freddie. I currently live just outside of Launceston, where I enjoy walking on Dartmoor, baking and spending time with my family.

As a passionate teacher at our school, I am driven by the strong Catholic and spiritual ethos that underpins our educational foundation. I believe that serving as a governor will enable me to further support and nurture these values within our school community. Additionally, I am eager to work alongside our dedicated headteacher, contributing to the continuous development and progress of our school. As a governor, I aim to play a proactive role in shaping the future of our school, ensuring that it continues to flourish and provide a nurturing environment for all our students. It is a great privilege to be on this educational journey at Keyham Barton and I am proud to be a governor of this school as we continue to go from strength to strength.
