Welcome to Year 6

Meet the Teacher (sort of!)

Instead of our usual Meet and Greet Evening, here's an audio run-through of the important information that would normally be shared at this time.

Welcome back to a fresh new year at Keyham Barton!

Though there are a few differences and changes in place, one thing remains the same – how happy we are to have the children back in school, ready and raring to go! We are so excited about what this new school year has in store for us.

Year 6 is an exciting and challenging year, as well as being your child’s final year in primary education.  As part of the ‘Upper Key Stage Two Learning Team’, we expect Year 6 children to take a more mature and independent approach towards learning.  These skills are developed throughout the year through a variety of tasks and lessons and provide the key foundations that prepare them for the new challenges of secondary school.

As in previous years, we are working to prepare the children for secondary school where they will be taught by subject specialists. All pupils in Years 5 and 6 are taught Writing by myself and Maths is taught across both year groups by Mrs O’Connell.
